Dr Savoia is an economist. Using quantitative methods and taking a political economy approach, his research has looked at the determinants of governance and institutional performance and how they impinge on development outcomes and policies. His teaching experience includes economics of governance, economics of inequality, development finance, macroeconomics, microeconomics and econometrics. Alongside his teaching and research activities, Antonio also enjoys contributing to the policy debate. Before joining the University of Manchester, he has worked at the University of Exeter, the University of Reading and at the University of Bath (where he received his PhD).
