Areendam Chanda is an associate professor of economics at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. He specialises in the field of economic growth and theory of consumption and savings. He has published papers on various issues related to economic growth such as historical institutions, human capital, foreign direct investment, and dualism. His current research program includes understanding regional differences in both the US and India. Prior to working at LSU, he also taught at North Carolina State University, Raleigh. He received his Ph.D. from Brown University, Providence in 2001.
