Barbara Nunberg teaches public management and governance issues in development.

Nunberg previously served as head of the World Bank's program on public sector reform and governance for the East Asia and Pacific Region. During her career at the World Bank, she was engaged in research, policy development, and operational projects and programs in developing countries on governance and public management. Nunberg has extensive global field experience in Latin America, Eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Nunberg holds a Ph.D. in Political Science and an M.A. in Latin American Studies from Stanford University, where her doctoral research focused on rural elites and state institutions in Brazil. She has served as a visiting faculty member at Duke University, New York University, Georgetown University and the University of California, Berkeley and has been a visiting fellow at UCLA and Harvard University. She also served as a Social Science Fellow in the U.S. Agency for International Development.
