Benjamin Shawa is a Country Economist at IGC Zambia, where he collaborates closely with key local policymakers in government, civil society and the private sector as well as global researchers, to advance evidence-based policy solutions. He leads initiatives in mining, agriculture, firms, and finance including taxes and industrial policy.


Before joining IGC, Benjamin served as an economist at the Ministry of Finance and National Planning in Zambia, specialising in macroeconomic modelling, forecasting and real-sector economic analysis. He holds a BA in Development Studies from the University of Zambia and an MA in Policy Economics from Williams College, Centre for Development Economics. His research interests encompass subsidies and firm growth.
