Professor Dorobantu is Professor in Practice at LSE’s Data Science Institute. 

She began her career at Google, where she shaped the company’s strategy across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. She went on to co-found Aurora Energy Research, which is now Europe’s largest dedicated power analytics provider. Most recently, she co-founded and co-directed the world’s largest programme of research on AI for the public sector at The Alan Turing Institute, working alongside more than 100 public sector organisations on AI development, adoption, and governance. 

Her public service includes appointments to the Mayor’s Data for London Board, the Bank of England and Financial Conduct Authority’s AI Public-Private Forum, and the Department for International Trade’s Trade and Economy Panel. She received the inaugural AI and Robotics Research Community Award in March 2025 for her contributions to the UK's AI policy and research landscape. 

She has an MPhil (obtained with Distinction) and a DPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford.
