David Bevan is a Fellow of St John's College, Oxford, and has held visiting positions at Princeton, the Australian National University, and the University of the Auvergne. After studying economics at Cambridge, he worked for the British government on energy, followed by a spell in Kenya as an ODI Fellow. He was one of the founders (and subsequently Deputy Director) of the Centre for the Study of African Economies at Oxford. He has been a member of the African Economic Research Consortium's Advisory Committee, and Chair of its Research Sub-Committee. He has been a visiting scholar at the IMF on a number of occasions, and is a member of the Fiscal Affairs Department's panel of fiscal experts. His main research interests are in public economics and macroeconomic policy analysis and his research includes studies of Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. He has also consulted extensively in developing countries, mainly on fiscal issues.
