Diphus Tugume

Diphus Tugume is a Research Assistant at the Uganda Bankers Association and a Master’s candidate in Economics at Makerere University. His research interests include environmental taxation, climate policy, and sustainable development. His current project analyses how different categories of environmental taxes—on energy, pollution, and transport—affect carbon emissions across East African Community countries. Using advanced panel data methods, the study distinguishes short- and long-term effects to guide policymakers on how targeted tax instruments can most effectively reduce emissions while supporting economic growth.
