Dr. Praveer Sinha
Dr. Praveer Sinha is a distinguished leader in the global power and energy sector, with a career spanning nearly four decades across the energy value chain. As CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power, he has played a pivotal role in transforming the company from a century-old utility into a modern, sustainable, technology-driven and customer-centric clean energy business.
Under Dr. Sinha’s leadership, Tata Power has accelerated its transition towards renewable and green energy, with more than 40% of its portfolio now derived from clean energy sources and a long-term ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045. A strong advocate of the philosophy that “Sustainable is Attainable”, he is committed to advancing accessible and innovative energy solutions that support India’s transition to a more sustainable future across homes, mobility, industry and rural communities.
Dr. Sinha is a qualified Electrical Engineer with a Master’s degree in Business Law. He holds a PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and completed the Advanced Management Programme at IIM Ahmedabad. He is an Honorary Professor at the University of Warwick, a Visiting Research Associate at MIT, and serves on the External Advisory Board of the MIT Energy Initiative. He is also a founding member of the Advisory Group for the WRI Polsky Center for the Global Energy Transition.
Passionate about innovation and technology, Dr. Sinha has championed collaborations with national and international technology partners to drive progress in the energy sector. His leadership and contributions have earned recognition from leading publications including Forbes, Fortune and Business Today, which have consistently ranked him among the industry’s leading CEOs.
Dr. Sinha also led the establishment of a collaborative partnership between Tata Power and the International Growth Centre (IGC) at the London School of Economics to launch the Energy Insights and Innovation Lab (EIIL) — a first-of-its-kind platform in India focused on behavioural and data-driven analytics for consumer adoption, retention and energy policy insights. He currently serves as a member of the EIIL Research Advisory Board.
