Esmeralda Sindou

Esméralda Sindou is an engineer and an economist with a particular interest in energy policy and renewable energy, working as Energy Policy Expert within the Sustainable Energy Team at GOPA - International Energy Consultants (intec).

Previously, Esméralda supported the International Growth Centre and the Central Bank of Tanzania deliver a seminar on natural gas and worked at the French Development Agency in India, where she participated in the monitoring of two lines of credit for renewable energy and energy efficiency. More recently, she developed a site selection model for RES Group for wind farms in South Africa.  Since then, she has worked as a consultant and has been involved in a number of projects in sub-Saharan Africa relating to power sector reform, the promotion of the links between energy and the broader economy, and the improvement of framework conditions for renewable energy investments.

Through various projects, Esméralda has also developed strong econometric and survey skills for quantitative impact evaluation. She speaks French, English and German, and holds an MSc in Economics for Development from the University of Oxford and a Masters in Engineering from Ponts ParisTech – formerly Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.
