Gabriela Sicilia research interests are focused on the measurement of efficiency, productivity, and evaluation of interventions in the education sector. She has conducted several studies to evaluate schools and teachers’ performance. Other topics she has worked on include the impact of structure and early education attendance on students’ educational outcomes. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics, a master’s degree in public economics from the Complutense University of Madrid, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of the Republic in Uruguay.

Gabriela is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mathematical and Quantitative Methods in the University of the Republic and an Associate Researcher at the National Research System of Uruguay. She is an affiliate of the Econometric Society, the Association for Public Policy Analysis & Management (APPAM) and the Latin America and Caribbean Monitoring & Evaluation Network (RELACME). Gabriela has also worked in several Uruguayan public institutions (Ministry of Economy, National Institute of Statistics, Ministry of Social Development).
