Gerhard Erasmus currently serves as faculty at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, where he lectures on Comparative Constitutional Law and International Human Rights Law. He received his education from Blooemfontein University (LLB), Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, Boston, (M.A.), and the Rijksununiversiteit, Leiden, Netherlands (LLD). Mr Erasmus is also a member of the editorial board for the South African Yearbook of International Law and South African Journal of Human Rights. In 1994, he was placed on the shortlist of nominees for a position as Judge for the new South African Constitutional Court. He has also served as a technical advisor to the Namibian Constitutional Assembly in 1990; to the Malawian new constitution in 1994; and to the South African Constitutional Assembly in 1995-96. Most recently, Mr. Erasmus assisted in drafting the Western Cape Provincial Constitution. Mr Erasmus is also a founder and Associate of tralac.
