Ian Porter is the former Country Director for IGC Myanmar.

Ian Porter, an Australian national, is a consultant with more than thirty years of international development experience at both the operational and corporate levels. He is currently working with a number of international institutions and think tanks, including the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, the United Nations and the China Economic Research and Advisory Programme, on a range of development issues, with a particular focus on East and Southeast Asia. He has spent most of his career at the World Bank, including assignments as Country Director for South East Asia, Manager of Policy Support for the Board of Directors, Division Chief for Population and Human Resources in West Africa and Resident Representative for Tanzania. Earlier in his career with the World Bank he worked on economic and sectoral reform issues in China, Thailand and Vietnam. Prior to joining the World Bank he worked for the Government of Malawi as an Overseas Development Institute Fellow. He holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University and an MA in Development Economics from Sussex University.
