Dr. Isabela Manelici is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the London School of Economics, where she has served since the fall of 2021. Her research lies at the intersection of international trade and development economics, with a focus on how global production networks shape economic outcomes in developing countries.
A citizen of Romania, Dr. Manelici earned her B.A. in Civil Engineering from École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris, her M.A. in Economics and Finance from CEMFI in Madrid, and her Ph.D. in Economics from UC Berkeley in 2020.
Before joining LSE, she was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the International Economics Section of the Department of Economics at Princeton University (2020–2021). Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked as a Junior Professional Associate at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., where she contributed to projects focused on economic development and policy design.
