Kanika Mahajan is an Associate Professor of Economics at Ashoka University, India. She also co‑leads the Employment and Labour vertical at the Isaac Centre for Public Policy. Her primary research interests lie in empirical development economics, with a focus on labour, firms, gender, and the environment. Her current agenda examines the drivers of women’s employment in India, using data from digital platforms as well as primary and secondary household and firm surveys. Her other ongoing work explores the growth and resilience of firms in India and their implications for labor, capital, trade, and environment. She obtained her PhD from the Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi, in 2015.
