Kiflu Gedefe Molla is a Country Economist for Ethiopia at the International Growth Centre (IGC). He holds a PhD in Economics from Stockholm University. He has a strong background in policy research, having previously worked as a Senior Economist and Fiscal Risk Advisor for the Building Resilience in Ethiopia Technical Assistance (BRE-TA) program at Oxford Policy Management, supporting Ethiopia’s Ministry of Finance. He also served as Lead Researcher and Coordinator of the Trade Policy Research Centre (TPRC) at the Policy Studies Institute (PSI), where he led and coordinated key research initiatives, including projects supporting the implementation of Ethiopia’s Homegrown Economic Reform (HGER) Agenda. His research interests span public finance, international trade, economic growth, applied economics, and econometrics. Kiflu has published various papers on topics such as the impact of commodity price fluctuations on child malnutrition, trade tax evasion, and food and land use systems. He has also contributed to policy reports on Ethiopia’s export performance and value-added tax policy. Kiflu's work involves collaboration with international organisations and research institutions and advising policymakers on economic development. His work is highly regarded within the Ethiopian policy and academic community, and he continues to influence economic policy through his role at IGC and his various research endeavours.
