Liam Carson is a former Country Economist at IGC Uganda. He holds an MSc in Economics and Development Economics from the University of Nottingham. Before joining the IGC, Liam worked for several years as an Emerging Markets Economist at the consultancy Capital Economics. He then undertook a two-year ODI Fellowship as a Senior Economist in the Tax Policy Department of the Ugandan Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. During his time there, he modelled the revenue and socioeconomic implications associated with potential new tax measures, providing policy recommendations to feed into the budget.

Liam’s research interests are in development economics, macroeconomics, as well as tax policy and compliance.
