Maira Reimão is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food and Resource Economics at the University of Florida. Her research interests include migration, particularly its effect on those who stay behind, and social norms. She has ongoing research related to Bangladesh, Brazil, and Guatemala. A current project focuses on the effect of male temporary migration in Bangladesh on gender norms in villages of origin. Dr Reimão earned her PhD from the University of California Davis, an MPhil from the University of Oxford, and a B.S. degree from Georgetown University.
