Michaël Aklin is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh. During the 2014/15 academic year, he will be on leave as a fellow at the Christopher H. Browne Center for International Politics, University of Pennsylvania. He received his PhD in Politics from New York University. Previously, he obtained a Licence in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva (Switzerland), and an MA in Political Economy from the University of Essex (UK). He was also a visiting scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) in Germany.
Aklin's work focuses on international and comparative political economy. He is particularly interested in understanding why some countries are able to reduce their vulnerability to major risks such as financial crises or environmental catastrophes.
