Michael Kofi Hanson

Michael Hanson is a PhD student in Development Economics at the University of Ghana. Before his doctoral studies, he worked with the African Centre for Economic Transformation, the Bank of Ghana Chair in Economics and Finance, and other research partnerships with the Ghana Statistical Service and international universities. His research spans development and health economics, applied econometrics, and the political economy of governance. His current project examines how Ghana’s local governments can strengthen revenue mobilisation and fiscal autonomy, drawing on lessons from IGC research to identify practical ways to improve service delivery and accountability in a decentralised system.
