Nancy Qian is an Associate Professor of Economics at Yale University, where she teaches development economics. She is a native of Shanghai, China and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Before coming to Yale, Nancy taught at Brown University and was a visiting scholar at the department of economics at Harvard University while she was a Harvard Academy Scholars postdoctoral fellow. Her research is focused on providing rigorous micro empirical evidence for a set of core questions in development economics that fall broadly under three categories: demography and development, growth and development, and institutions and development.
