
Paul Aplin
Paul Aplin OBE is the Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT). He is a former president of the Institute for Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and was for 40 years in practice in an independent west country firm.
He is a member of HMRC’s Administrative Burdens Advisory Board, Tax Faculty board, CIOT council and CFE tax technology committee. He is adviser to personal tax app untied, Daysium and Dext and is a regular commentator on tax and technology issues. Paul is the author of Technology and Tax Administrations.
Paul was appointed OBE in 2009 for services to the accountancy profession and public service. Paul studied Biochemistry at Anglia Ruskin University, earning a BSc in 1978. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1985 and as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1989. Paul is also a volunteer mentor at Anglia Ruskin University, helping students at the institution where he studied 47 years prior.
