Paul Wasanga is the Chief Executive Officer of Kenya National Examinations Council since April 2005. He holds a Masters degree in Education and a Bachelor of Education (1st class honours) both from University of Nairobi. He first joined KNEC as a Higher Examinations Secretary in Test Development in 1984 and thereafter headed different sections within before becoming the CEO. A seasoned educationist with a wealth of experience spanning over 34 years in education sector, Wasanga has published books, reports and research papers in areas such as Testing and Monitoring (1997), Significant Performance Statistics, Assessment and South African Consortium in Monitoring Educational Quality (SACMEQ) Studies, Basic Learning Competencies, Attitude Towards Science and the link between Girls Sexual Maturation and Learning Competencies.

He is currently a senior Management Member Ministry of Education (MoE). At international level, between 2007 and 2011, Wasanga was the Secretary General of the Association of Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA) and thereafter, from 2011-2012, he was the President AEAA. He has served Country National Coordinator of, (SACMEQ) – Kenya as well as a Director, Regional Centre for Reform in Assessment and Examinations in Mathematics and Science in Africa (AMASA between 1998 and 2009.
