Philip Hall

Philip Hall OBE has served as His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan since November 2023. With a distinguished career in diplomacy and public policy, he brings extensive expertise in international relations, security, and economic affairs.

 Prior to his appointment in Jordan, Philip played a key role in the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO), including leading the Spending Review (2015-2016) and heading the Counter Proliferation Department (2012-2015), where he directed the UK’s efforts to prevent the spread of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons. He also served as Defence Counsellor to the UK Delegation at NATO (2008-2012). 

Philip’s career has been largely focused on European and Middle Eastern affairs, holding senior positions across the FCO, the Cabinet Office, and the Treasury. From 1999 to 2001, he led the Middle East Peace Process Section at the FCO, contributing to diplomatic efforts in the region. A qualified solicitor, Philip holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the London School of Economics and pursued postgraduate studies in European law and integration in Germany. 

As British Ambassador to Jordan, Philip represents His Majesty The King and the UK government, overseeing diplomatic relations, trade and investment initiatives, political engagement, and consular services to strengthen the UK-Jordan partnership.
