Robert Gonzalez is an assistant professor of Economics in the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in May of 2016.

His research interests lie within the fields of development economics, public economics and economic demography. He is currently studying the effectiveness of corruption-deterring mechanisms in developing countries as well as the impact of information communication technologies (ICTs) on governance and economic development.
