Dr. Sanval Nasim is Assistant Professor at Colby College. His primary research and teaching field is enviornmental and natural resource economics.

Dr. Nasim obtained his PhD in Environmental Sciences from the University of California, Riverside, USA in 2015. His PhD research explored the effects of institutional constraints on the efficient allocation and optimal management of groundwater in Pakistan’s Indus Basin. Dr. Nasim is interested in discovering how human behavior contributes to the long term degradation of natural resource systems and how local institutions shape and inform economic policies for a sustainable environment and a healthy resource base. He first became fascinated by the field of environmental economics as an Undergraduate student at Colby College, USA, where he double majored in Economics and History. Prior to that, he completed the International Baccalaureate at the United World College, USA.

His research interests include water management, sustainability and conservation; air pollution mitigation; and climate change.
