Seema Jayachandran’s research focuses on economic issues in developing countries. Her current work explores the determinants of parents’ investments in their children’s health and education. Other topics she studies include the environment, labour markets, and political economy. She is a recipient of a Sloan Research Fellowship and a National Science Foundation Early Career Development grant. She serves as a reviewing editor at Science and associate editor of the American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, and Journal of Economic Perspectives. She is an affiliate of the National Bureau of Economic Research and co-chairs the Health Sector and serves on the Board of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab
