Shadlee Rahman is a Country Economist at IGC Bangladesh. Shadlee's expertise and experience lies in the areas of evidence-based qualitative research, policy analysis, and programme and stakeholder management. His research interests include private sector development, governance, and poverty reduction.
Prior to joining IGC, Shadlee was a Senior Manager at BRAC, where he managed the research and evaluation portfolio of their flagship Ultra-Poor Graduation Programme. Previously, he was a Policy Analyst at UNDP Bangladesh, where he contributed to research on topics including LDC graduation, economic diversification, and impact of Covid-19 on multidimensional poverty. At UNDP, he also worked with global teams to design and co-lead research on foresight mapping and inclusive growth. Earlier in his career, Shadlee was a consultant at the International Finance Corporation, where he specialized in regulatory governance and delivery, and collaborated with the Law Ministry to incorporate Legislative Impact Assessment into Bangladesh law.
Shadlee holds an MA in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, and a BA in Political Science from the University of British Columbia.
