Tugume Esau

Tugume is a multidisciplinary researcher with practical research and program development experience in Agricultural Livelihoods programming and MSMEs Development. His interests focus on applied and action research in climate change, agricultural systems, rural development and urban waste management. He is currently engaged in studies that optimize organic waste management for sustainable and resilient agriculture production systems in urban contexts. He previously worked on several studies on agriculture and food security, cash transfer assistance, economic empowerment and SMEs’ productivity in developing economies. He worked with various development agencies, like IMPACT Initiative, BRAC International, and Mountains of the Moon University in Uganda. He is a seasonal consultant in third party evaluations and economic valuations of agriculture and forestry investments at Dyadic Research Impacts and Knight Frank Uganda. He is skilled at program design and planning, evaluation and monitoring, as well as building the capacities of organization staff, professionals and students in program evaluations and monitoring. He is a joint PhD student at Ghent University in Belgium and Mountains of the Moon University in Uganda specializing in climate change studies. Esau is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Center for Effective Global Action based at University of California. He also holds a Master of Science in Agroecology from Uganda Martyrs University and a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from Mountains of the Moon University in Uganda.
