Utz J. Pape holds a Master of Public Affairs (Dual Degree) with Distinction at London School of Economics and Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. His studies were complemented with a consultancy at World Bank working on impact evaluation studies in Tanzania and Malawi and a research assistance at the Centre for Economic Performance at London School of Economics. Before he started his career in International Development, he studied philosophy in Germany and completed a PhD program with summa cum laude in Computational Biology at the International Max-Planck-Research School. At Harvard University, he worked as a research fellow and teaching affiliate for one year conducting cancer research in molecular genetics. He was involved in the functional analysis of a new DNA modification, which was published in two articles in Nature. While moving to London to pursue his studies at London School of Economics, he analyzed the impact of health policies for Imperial College’s School of Public Health.
