Jacobus Cilliers is a DPhil student at the Oxford Centre for the Analysis of Resource Rich Economies. He completed his MPhil in Economics (with distinction) at Oxford University in 2010.  His doctoral research relates to the political economy of mining in developing countries, under the supervision of Dr Clare Leaver.  He is working on optimal contracting between international oil companies and the host country; as well as the influence of mineral mining on rebel activity in eastern DRC. Jacobus also holds a BCom (Honours) in Economics from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa.
