Javier Santiso is Founder of Start Up Spain. He was formerly Director of the OECD Development Centre, where he developed the institution re-focusing the substance on Asian, African and Latin American flagships, tripling the staff and doubling the governing board members (half of them now emerging countries). He began his career in 1995 at the Latin American Centre, University of Oxford. Tenured as Research Fellow at Sciences Po Paris, he teaches at SAIS Johns Hopkins University. He served as an Emerging Markets Economist at Crédit Agricole Indosuez. In 2002, he became Chief Economist for Emerging Markets of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria. Santiso holds BA, MA and PhD degrees from the Sciences Po Paris, finished his doctoral studies at St Anthony's College, University of Oxford, holds an MBA from HEC School of Management and an Executive MBA from IESE Business School (Spain). Santiso has authored over 50 articles on international economy and emerging markets. His last book is entitled Latin America's Political Economy of the Possible: Beyond Good Revolutionaries and Free Marketeers. Santiso was a Member of the Forum's Global Agenda Councils.
