E. OLAWALE OGUNKOLA is Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. He was the Head of Department of Economics (2017-2021) and the Dean of the Faculty of the Social Sciences between 2012 and 2014 at the University of Ibadan. He is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Econometrics and Allied Research (CEAR) and Director, Trade Policy Research and Training Programme (TPRTP). He holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. His areas of teaching and research include Regional Integration, International Economics and Quantitative Analysis including Econometrics, Mathematics for Economists and Operation Research. He has published extensively in the area of trade and regional integration with particular focus on Africa. He has consulted widely for various bodies in Nigeria, Africa and internationally including the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, (FMITI), the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the UK Department for International Development (DfID), United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the African Union Commission (AUC), and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), etc.  He was a visiting scholar to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2001. He was a visiting Lecturer at the National University of Lesotho (2000 – 2002). He was a resource person to the Regional Trade Policy Course (RTPC) of World Trade Organisation (WTO).
