Smriti Sharma is a Research Fellow at World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) in Helsinki, Finland. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics. Her research interests are in development economics, applied econometrics, and experimental economics. Her research focuses on caste and gender based discrimination in India and Bangladesh, through the lens of caste-based crimes, self-employment, and labour markets; and examines issues related to higher education in India.
