Tidjane Thiam

Tidjane Thiam is a French-Ivorian banker who has served as the CEO of Swiss bank Credit Suisse until February 2020. Prior to this role, Thiam was the chief financial officer of British banking group Prudential from 2007 to 2009 before serving as its chief executive until 2013, and worked for McKinsey & Company, a leading global consultancy firm. From 1994 to 1999 he served as chief executive of the National Bureau for Technical Studies in the Cote d’Ivoire. Thiam is a member of the International Business Council of the World Economic Forum. In July 2011, Thiam was awarded the rank of Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur by the French government in recognition of his significant contribution to civil life for more than 20 years. In April 2020, Thiam was appointed as an AU Special Envoy on Covid-19.
