Climate change is increasing groundwater salinity in coastal Bangladesh, prompting many farmers to shift from rice cultivation to saltwater shrimp farming. While shrimp farming offers higher incomes, survey results show that high conversion costs and limited savings prevent many rice farmers from making the switch, despite growing concerns about declining yields.
