The effect of incentive structures on driver behavior and urban road safety in Addis Ababa

Project report Cities and Sustainable Growth

This project addresses poor urban road safety in Addis Ababa by examining how revenue-based contracts incentivise risky driving among informal minibus operators. It pilots behavioural and financial interventions, including safety score disclosure and performance bonuses, using high-frequency monitoring data to test scalable solutions for safer city transport.
