Mobilising private resources for public services: The transition to private water sources in rural Bangladesh
High-income regions have largely shifted from communal to private household water sources, funding them sustainably through user fees rather than subsidies. In rural Bangladesh, research shows that due to strong economies of scale, providing household water connections for free is currently the most cost-effective strategy.
