Promoting trade and investment in Sierra Leone

This report seeks to review and analyse some of the issues related to Sierra Leone's economy with a view to promoting trade and inclusive growth. Specifically, the paper discusses:

1. The challenges of diversification;
2. Misconception of the concept of value-addition;
3. Disadvantages of export taxes and prohibition; and
4. The importance of foreign investment and its associated controversies.

The analysis is based on a review of the literature and a series of consultations (bilateral and group) with key stakeholders (policymakers, private sector and civil society organisations).
