Industrial development in Tanzania: Firm-level analysis of the industrial sector

Tanzania is one of a handful of countries in Africa in which industry is growing as a share of GDP and employment. IGC Tanzania has supported work on firm capabilities, including one of the first of John Sutton’s Enterprise Maps. The country office encourages submission of further proposals for firm level analysis of employment, investment, and productivity in formal manufacturing. Studies of agglomeration economies and linkages between FDI and domestic firms are particularly sought. Case study analysis of special economic zones, linkages and emerging exporters are also of interest.
