Trade policy reforms
The team invites proposals on impact of trade on firm productivity and barriers to exports, as well as on policies to increase trade and regional integration.
In order to enhance efficiency of firms in export oriented industries and those catering to domestic demand, improvements in trade infrastructure and favourable trade and industrial policy are critical. Constraints under trade infrastructure cover factors that affect cost competitiveness, such as technology and labour productivity, enabling environment for trade, the state of trade logistics, ease of doing business, access to finance, and availability of skilled labour. Trade policy could be a constraint or support to export growth and diversification. Rationalization of import tariff structure may support the government’s export diversification initiatives.
