Richard Newfarmer chaired the concluding session, which also featured Professor Paul Collier, Keith Muhakanizi and Louis Kazekende. Professor Collier talked about his recent involvement with the Tanzanian government on natural resource issues, during which he used examples of international best practice, and applied them to the Tanzania context. He recommended this type of knowledge transfer as a model for the rest of Africa, and promoted the IGC as the perfect organisation to achieve this. Finally, he identified two important research questions: (1) how can government build an engaged and informed citizenry; (2) how to get youth into proper productive employment? The IGC will be certainly work on those research areas in the future.
