Waste
Urbanisation is turning waste into a make-or-break city issue—clogging drains, harming health, driving 3–4% of GHGs, and swallowing up to half of municipal budgets. Economics research brings underutilised knowledge on how to improve waste management in cities by aligning incentives, targeting investments, and addressing market failures to create cleaner, healthier urban spaces.
Throughout UN-Habitat's Urban October, IGC will be showcasing some of the solutions for sustainable growth in cities. Watch this space for new blogs, publications, a toolkit, and other resources related to waste management.
