Workshop: Panel at the Ethiopian Development Research Institute

IGC researchers presented two significant contributions to the 8th of June workshop at the Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI)

1) Prof. Sutton’s presentation is focused on his Industrial Mapping work on Ethiopia which is based on a survey of large firms in leading industries with emphasis on exporters. The survey was designed to take stock of what capabilities the firms currently have; how these firms have acquired these capabilities; and how they source inputs and access markets.

2) Prof. Soderbom’s study treats micro and small enterprises from similar perspectives, i.e. current capabilities, means of acquiring these capabilities, market access and input sources. Both studies aim at informing the Ethiopian government on its a way to a more effective and efficient approach to future industrial policy-making. They are soon to be published in the form of a book.
