IGC Mozambique collaborates with policymakers and researchers to drive sustainable and inclusive growth through projects focused on private sector development, state effectiveness, and climate resilience. Our work includes enhancing tax policy, revenue mobilisation, digital governance, and urban infrastructure to improve fiscal capacity and service delivery, especially for rural migrants and internally displaced populations.

About
High for two decades, Mozambique’s growth rate began to decline after 2015, owing to debt, natural disasters and the global pandemic. IGC Mozambique was established in 2018 to support the country in addressing these growth challenges.
We work with policymakers and the research community on projects to inform government strategy. These projects have included building trust in local institutions and reducing radicalisation in Cabo Delgado, price modelling and analysis of agricultural value chains, improving primary healthcare by strengthening the capacity of clinics to manage patient flows, and supporting the national strategy for financial inclusion through work on mobile money and savings. Our pioneering work on conflict management and social integration has informed the government and local leaders’ responses to the rise of Islamic radicalisation. Most recently, our work has expanded to climate change and infrastructure.
IGC Mozambique is located at the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). The Ministry of Planning and Development (MPD) has been the IGC’s direct counterpart in Mozambique, through the National Directorate of Economic Policies and Development. We have also worked closely with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, through the Institute of Cereals of Mozambique, and the Ministry of Health, through the National Institute of Health. These partners have played a key role in the establishment and impact of IGC Mozambique.
