Kacana Sipangule is a PhD Candidate in Economics at the University of Goettingen, and a Research Fellow at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy where her responsibilities include among others the coordination of the Poverty Reduction Equity and Growth Network. her research interests include development economics and agricultural economics. Previously, she worked as a Research Fellow at GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies where she conducted research on land use change and large scale land acquisitions with other colleagues.

Her doctoral research is on agricultural transformations and poverty reduction in Africa, where she analyses different aspects that affect smallholder production. She holds a Master's Degree with a specialisation in development from the Free University of Amsterdam and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Development Studies and Economics from the University of Zambia.
