S. Mahendra Dev

S. Mahendra Dev is currently Director and Vice Chancellor at Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai. He was Chairman of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices for the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of India. He was Director of Centre for Economic and Social Studies in Hyderabad and Acting Chairman of the National Statistical Commission of the Government of India.
Professor Dev has more than 100 research publications in national and international journals. Oxford University Press has recently published his book Inclusive Growth in India. Recently his book Perspectives on Equitable Development was released by the Prime Minister of India. He has been a member of several government committees including the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Employment and Rangarajan Commission on Financial Inclusion. He was member of several working groups for 9th, 10th and 11th Five Year Plans. He has received honours for eminence in public service. Professor Dev received his PhD from the Delhi School of Economics and completed his postdoctoral research at Yale University.
