Zuzana Brixiova is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Cape Town, School of Economics and Research Affiliate at the Southern African Labour and Development Research Unit. Previously she was Advisor to the Chief Economist and Vice President at the African Development Bank where she led team that prepared the Bank’s new Knowledge Management Strategy. Prior to this, she was Economic Advisor at the UNDP in Swaziland (on leave from the AfDB), Principal Research Economist in the AfDB Research Department, and Senior Economist in the Economics Department of the OECD. In 2007/08 she was a Fulbright Scholar at the Addis Ababa University. She has ten years of experience from the IMF in macroeconomics of developing and emerging market countries.
Her current research interests are entrepreneurship, development economics, and international economics. She has published on a variety of topics, most recently in World Development, Review of Development Economics and Development Policy Review. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. in Finance from the Prague University of Economics.
