Michele Di Maio is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Naples "Parthenope" (Italy). He received his PhD from the University of Siena (Italy) in 2006 and the Laurea (Master) from Bocconi University in 2001. Trained as an international trade economist, his current research topics are the economics of conflict (Palestine and Afghanistan), child labour, and industrial policies in developing countries, especially Africa. Since May 2010, Di Maio has been Senior Affiliate of the Households in Conflict Network (HiCN). He has worked as a consultant on issues related to industrial development and international trade for CEPAL, IPD Initiative, UNECA, UNIDO, and UNCTAD, as well as the IGC.
