Sofia Pessoa e Costa is a final year PhD student in microeconometrics and labour economics at the Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium), and a research assistant at the School of Business and Management, Queen Mary University of London. Her PhD thesis focuses on the evaluation of Active Labour Market Policies in France and in Belgium. She has participated in the evaluation of the Belgian policy to counsel the unemployed and control their job search efforts (“Plan d'accompagnement et de suivi des chômeurs”) and in the evaluation of the French "make work pay" initiative ("Revenu de Solidarité Active”). She also worked at the French Ministry of Employment and as an advisor to the State Secretary for Employment in Portugal.
