On the 25th April 2018, Cities that Work co-hosted a workshop with the Kampala Capital City Authority on urban mobility in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area, to explore first steps in reform.
The workshop brought together Biodun Otunola, Managing Director of Planet Projects Limited in Nigeria, Samson Gyamera, Executive Director of the Greater Accra Public Transport Executive, Matti Siemiatycki from the University of Toronto and Priya Manwaring from Cities that Work, together with a variety relevant stakeholders from the Greater Kampala Area. The aim was to take the recently published Greater Kampala Multimodal Transport Plan and to provide a forum for initial discussions on how to commence this major transport reform using evidence from research underpinned by the experience of practitioners who have had to undertake the reform. In this context, a major point of discussion was on financing the infrastructure.
